The 50 best cheap eats in Quebec City (2024)

The Fairmont Le Château Frontenac is a high-end hotel with plush quarters and a spa. It is also located near the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre, which is said to be one of the sites of several miracles. The resort has 240 rooms and suites, some of which have kitchenette or kitchen facilities.

Visited this place for business conference. I did not stay personally so can not review rooms experience directly but other guests shared good feedback. However i spent quite a good amount of time over 3 days in the conference hall and had the pleasure to enjoy food and hospitality.Hits:- One of the most famous place in Quebec City and has a long history. You can find many things inside hotel about the past- Conference facility is good and staff is nice. They made sure that things are ready in time- Food is delicious and ambiance is very nice. Each room and place is nicely decorated. You will like golden escalator area- restroom area is very neat and cleanMisses:- Food is amazing but limited choice for vegetarians. Still trying to explain people that vegetarian and vegan is not same- limited choice in snacks and tea

Staying here during Christmas is amazing, the hotel is first class from the character of the hotel to the world class staff. From the moment you enter the hotel you will see why it's the most photographed hotel in the world. The people of Quebec City are friendly and they love their city! This is a top ten Christmas destination from the winter markets to the weather (it's been snowing on and off for five days) so it's highly likely to have a white Christmas. Book well in advance and come prepared to walk around the town and enjoy with your family. If you have kids they will love this winter wonderland.

This beautiful, historic, renovated hotel is an excellent place to stay in Quebec City. It presents with subtle elegance. The staff is professional, friendly and knowledgeable. We stayed in a room with a river view and were pleased with the beautiful sunrises as well as the golden hour views. The breakfast buffet is fantastic offering many tasty options (loved the Eggs Benedict option too), If your sweet tooth is like mine you will enjoy the fresh fruit and the wonderful pastries. This hotel's location at the top of the hill offers lovely views of the streets of old Quebec City as well as the Citadel up the hill. You cannot go wrong staying at this hotel.

Only 100 CAD Per Night Great deal!. I booked the cheapest room only for 100 CAD a night the room was in a standard condition to reach my standards the room had some scratches. The door entering the room is beautiful staff only gave me one water box and when I called they came quickly as possible. The room had a view of most of the castle and the parking lot and other buildings near by. The view is breathtaking when you exit the hotel from Starbucks you’ll see the Saint Lawrence River And A Ferris Wheel It’s Actually It Isn’t That Bad! The Prices Are Cheap And Rooms Are In Standard Condition I Payed 300 CAD In Total. Rooms Were Fully Booked I Couldn’t Get My Room Until 1:00 The Check-In Desk Told Me My Room Would Be Ready At 12:30. They Did Apologize. Recommend At The Worlds Most Photographed Hotel!.

The gentleman who helped us get our bags from the car to the lobby was lovely and helpful. I had ordered a vegan birthday cake, which was waiting for us upon arrival. It was beautiful and delicious! We arrived at the hotel with our large dog. We were thrilled at how welcomed we felt with our big guy. Our room was beautiful and, although it was listed as a room with a "city view", we were so excited to be able to see the park and the waterfront from our bed!

As always, a most enjoyable experience. The building and facilities are excellent, but the quality that makes it stand out from all other hotels is the staff. Friendly, competent and tolerant of my sorry attempt at French. They do not seem to be acting, they are genuinely welcoming.

Beautiful hotel in Quebec City. Very iconic, apparently the most photographed hotel in the world. Not sure if that is accurate or not... It is decorated beautifully for Christmas. I would recommend trying out the lounge in the lobby area. I believe it is called 1608. I've never stayed here yet, but I do intend to in the future. Follow for more....

We stayed here in December, just before Christmas. The hotel was decorated beautifully. The hotel is a perfect location for exploring old Quebec and all the Christmas markets. We stayed in a gold level room with separate concierge level access and check in. It was well worth it. The main lobby gets very busy during the day but quiets down in the later evenings. The lower level has an interesting Quebec history display and the second floor, when it's open, has an interesting display about the hotel's history. We also enjoyed the guided tour of the hotel. We arrived by train and it was easy to get a cab to the hotel. We can't wait to go back!

This hotel is what I expect from a Fairmont. It was very busy even in April which we thought was off season. We found there is no off season at the Le Chateau Frontenac but the service was still impeccable. We had a Superior King river view room. The room was comfortable and well appointed. We had a lovely four hour dinner at Le Champlain. A very special experience. Ate at several restaurants in the hotel and bought some lovely things in the two gift shops. The location can't be beat. Convenient to many restaurants and shops. A charming area. We took advantage of several tours offered by the hotel of the surrounding area. We will definitely return.

Incredible hotel - beautiful inside & out, with excellent hospitality. Sometimes when staying at a fancy hotel, one may encounter at least one person who is snooty or unpleasant, but at this place EVERYONE we encountered was SO HAPPY & HELPFUL! WOW!Our room was HUGE and beautiful with great bath products in the bathroom - such a nice room! We ordered room service twice and it was prompt and delicious.Whenever we return to Quebec City, we would definitely stay at this hotel again.P.S. If you are a fan of the K-drama GOBLIN, this hotel is a MUST! 😉

Absolutely stunning hotel. We paid for a deluxe room, and boy did it deliver. (Not the gold). Many reviews criticize the lack of space, but for a vintage and historical hotel, this was actually very spacious. The front desk staff, Bell staff, and concierge are all very helpful and friendly, and all spoke both English and French. The location is very convenient as well, as Old Quebec City is super walkable.

Great place. The rooms we got were inward facing and didn't have a view of the spectacular sights of Quebec City, but they were clean. Everything worked fine and we were well stocked with coffee, etc. Could have used more complimentary water, but hey... we only had to ask. All in all, it was a great experience. The hotel is centrally located and a short walk from a variety of restaurants. We only needed to take our car out a couple of times during our 4 night stay. Self park and valet options available, we recommend the self park option. The hotel tour is a must do experience and so is the walking tour of the old city...

We had a nice 3 day stay, house keeping was amazing the way they made our room look brand new. Also the pool is the perfect temperature, we had a couple of swims. The cons were their Nesspreso coffee maker in the room made amazing coffee when it worked properly which was about 50% of the time, the coffee capsules do not align well. We did not get a code with room service code or all the attractions options, I had to Google everything on my phone and the general website. Room service comes with additional hidden charges. They offer free walking tours, but you have to speak with the concierge to find out. I wonder if they had a kids club, we stumbled upon one cookie decorating activity we enjoyed as well. Also there were a lot of non guests going up to the floors with the guests, to look at the pool etc and then getting stuck as they did not have a room card to get down, and then asking us to use our card.Overall we had an enjoyable stay even with all these quirks.

I love this hotel. The staff were always friendly and helpful. The room is excellently appointed with modern touches that pay homage to the history and culture behind the establishment. And of course it just looks amazing inside and outside everywhere. I would always want to stay here when I visit Quebec City.

Everything was top notch! When I called to make the reservation they had asked if it was any special occasion that was bringing us there and I had indicated it was our first anniversary and we really had not taken a honey mood so this was like our mini moon. The upgrade and chocolate covered strawberries were such a great surprise. Everyone at the hotel were so helpful and accommodating and it was just such a beautiful hotel, we didn't want to leave! We love the city of Quebec too - such a cool vibe. We will definitely be back!Much gratitude!Val & Paul

The room was great. The castle is beautiful. The chateau was right in the middle of old Quebec city and you could easily walk to all the area spots, shops and restaurants. My only complaint would be the breakfast they offered in the chateau. Was overpriced and not great, but the staff was friendly. I would recommend 1 of the local café for breakfast. -Cheers.

Simply gorgeous hotel. Unique experience with world class service. Rooms are very different so ensure you get clarity on room layout etc if that's of concern. Ours is a city view on the eaves of the castle so have some interesting angles drop downs and posts within the room. But adds to the awesomeness all around. Highly recommend a stay here at least once in life!

This was the most beautiful hotel we have ever stayed at. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. The breakfast every morning was wonderful! Location was perfect, view from our room was amazing. The air can get dry overnight so we asked for a humidifier which helped a bit. We would have loved to be able to explore the hotel more but much of it was roped off. I would absolutely stay here again if I visited Quebec again. This was truly a five star experience. Thank you for the hospitality.

Beautiful historic hotel with luxury common areas and beautiful restaurants. I had a room that overlooked the city which was comfortable and clean. So I gave this hotel 5 stars because it really was a nice experience BUT I feel that its more of a 4 star property rather than 5 star.Reasons:- washroom door was two small doors with glass frosted windows. There was no lock for the washroom- the washroom was very small- there was no fan with noise in the washroom- no bathrobes or slippers- decor was nice but didn'treally look like a 5 star hotel.- a few areas in the room and corridors looked wornAgain, overall the hotel is wonderful and the staff were all very friendly. Would I stay here again? YES absolutely

Beautiful place. Just amazing. Me and my wife spent a night in a beautiful River view room and it was just so pretty to look at the lake through the room windows and even through the bathroom’s window. Since it’s a Christmas time so the hotel was decorated with beautiful Christmas trees. Must visit. Staff was so polite and humble and always ready to help.

A wonderful hotel with very friendly staff. Terrific choice for breakfast, where we were looked after with excellent service by Marc. Super helpful concièrge, Daniele. Lovely swimming pool, which has staff in attendance. I thoroughly recommend this hotel. Our room was very nice, but we had a special offer, so it didn't have the best views. However, we were very happy with it. Our 12 year old granddaughter was on cloud 9 during the stay, and she wants to take her parents and brother for a stay!

A very nice hotel. Best location in Quebec city. Rooms are good, some are not very special. Staff are mostly friendly and helpful, except for one lady at the check-in counter who didn't seem very helpful. Overall great experience. Definitely would go back again

Beautiful overnight visit after disembarking from our cruise ship. Hotel provided a free Old Quebec Tour, as well as a beer tasting educational event with Jacob, Hotel Mixologist. Enjoyed both! Rested comfortably in a beautiful room overlooking the St. Lawrence Seaway Bay and boardwalk. Woke up to great coffee at Starbucks on hotel property and off to the airport in a taxi right in front of hotel.

This is a beautiful, iconic hotel in a great location. The service is excellent and the food and beverage offerings are amazing. We had a nice sized room, but I was surprised that a hotel of this caliber did not offer amenities such as slippers and robes. Also, some of our friends complained that the size of their rooms were so small that they were unacceptable so beware of that. Otherwise, highly recommended.

Absolutely incredible! This was my first time to Quebec City, and it was magical. The room was beautiful, comfortable, and well-stocked. The staff were ALL kind, happy to help, and very generously (and so politely) accomodated my English. The location is PERFECT! Walking distance to amazing restaurants, astounding tourist attractions, and stunning views. Even if you are not staying here, I *highly* recommend walking around and exploring, particularly the basem*nt floor where there is a self-guided museum with artifacts and fascinating history of the area. I also *highly* recommend attending a walking tour. The guide was hilarious, knowledgable, and engaging. It truly was a dream-come-true experience I will never forget!

Special place with 5 star service. The staff makes you feel special as a guest and goes out of their way to make your stay a special experience. The best location in Quebec City and an amazing history with the hotel as well. Very good restaurants on site. They offer a variety of kid friendly activities and are very welcoming to all. Highly recommend!

Frontenac Castle in Quebec City is an absolute gem, a historical masterpiece that left us in awe. The majestic architecture and rich heritage make it a must-visit destination. From the moment we arrived, the grandeur of the castle took our breath away. The interiors are opulent, showcasing a perfect blend of modern luxury and old-world charm. Our room, adorned with elegant furnishings, offered spectacular views of the city. The attention to detail in preserving the castle's history while providing contemporary comfort is commendable. The staff's hospitality was exceptional, ensuring our stay was both comfortable and memorable. The onsite dining options, featuring delectable cuisine with a touch of local flavors, added to the overall delightful experience.Exploring the castle's grounds and nearby attractions was a highlight of our visit. The knowledgeable guides enriched our understanding of the castle's significance, making the visit educational and fascinating.Frontenac Castle is not just a hotel; it's a journey through time in the heart of Quebec City. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply seeking a luxurious getaway, Frontenac Castle is an absolute treasure. A five-star experience that exceeded our expectations!

Absolutely gorgeous hotel with staff that are just as amazing. Every single staff member has been more than kind with anything and everything. The hotel is also the best location to be, with it being close to everything. However, Lambert & Co. In the hotel lobby is atrocious. Rude staff, and when I made a Google review regarding what happened, they told me to inform them of the details which I did through email, but to no avail as they never responded to my email. They also had their own accounts make fake reviews the exact day to boost their rating, which I know for a fact as prior to my review, the reviews were 5 months to 2 years+ old. I'm not one to cause issues, but if you can't treat all your customers the same, especially when your store is empty, then you shouldn't be in the business at a higher end hotel period.

Apart from the location being absolutely prime, the service was mediocre. After entering the room, I was surprised to find some blonde hair, which clearly didn’t belong to me (as I have black hair). I immediately called the front desk, but they dismissed it, saying it just needed a quick clean. I felt like they didn’t really care about the guests’ experience, which was disappointing. Hopefully, the hotel management will take note of these service quality issues.

The hotel is very beautiful from the exterior. The staff is very helpful and friendly. It s really central.But. We paid the lowest price because we wanted to try this place with our own means but we were very disappointed by the simplicity of the room. Wasn't worth it. I paid less for 3-star hotel and had a more beautiful room. Ours was very dark and old, the furniture was a bit damaged. But we did get two beds instead of one like we had booked for no surcharge. The swimming pool, jacuzzi and eucalyptus hammam were free and the highlight of our stay. We did have to call twice to get our bathrobes and slippers which apparently are not in the rooms. We had to pay 45 cad for the parking lot which is not even included and definitely not accessible to handicapped people. We had a hard time finding our way to the hotel from there.Maybe the rooms are more beautiful when you pay double the price. The 5-star might be due to the amenities on site but I would expect even the cheapest rooms to feel warm and get the "wow" effect.I am not even sure the water was complimentary. We didn't touch anything.Overall, I would not recommend if you don't plan on paying more for the room and amenities.

This absolutely breathtaking hotel was just the stop my husband and I needed on our way New Brunswick. Excellent service straight from the front desk, to the pool (thank you Eloi) to a wonderful dinner. The view from our room was breathtaking and the breakfast buffet was splendid. Will be back for sure!

I guess I was very unfortunate during my stay. I had noise during most of the night that prevented me from sleeping as I was hearing the water flowing in the pipes of the bathroom and showers of the rooms on both sides of mine. There was also vacuuming or hair dryer during the night around 4am. I slept about 2 hours. When I woke up, I wanted to take a shower but the water was brown with a lot of waste in it. I let it flow for 20 minutes but it remained like that, it was disgusting. The room had a good view on the river but it was partially blocked by screens in the windows at eye's level but I still managed to take a few pics but I couldn't really enjoy it unless I tried to climb on the window's edge. I didn't have the time to change room or complain because I had to leave early and rapidly the next morning but it was definitely not worth the 460$ it cost me for 1 night for a queen sized bed, second floor, river view. I did not ask for a rebate or refund, nor did they offer me one after I showed them the water issue. The hotel location is however excellent and the room (beside the shower and water being unusable) was very clean and comfortable but is definitely not soundproof enough.

I stayed there in January with my little adventure cat Picchu for two nights. We are always looking for pet friendly (cat friendly) accommodations on our travels. The service exceeded all expectations, the staff was incredible and accommodating at all times. We can't say enough about Cindy at the front desk, she made our stay even more memorable. This hotel is impeccable inside and out, true luxury with a friendly feel. We never once felt out of place and was welcomed by everyone. The best pet friendly hotel we stayed at, cannot wait to stay there again.Highly recommend!

Beautiful hotel, super friendly staff from valet to front desk to room service. Had a relaxing stay! Recommend spending the $50/day using valet for the security of your vehicle, especially if you have a ski box. Dog friendly so ask for your doggy kit with bowls/bed/poop bags/treat. Didn’t know they had this so would have been nice if we had it the first day. I asked for a big water dish and they brought up the kit. Pool was ok but shallow- only waist deep and even though it’s pretty it was always full of kids and people swimming out of sequence on one side 😂. Would be nice to have a quiet hour or two in the evening. Steam room in change rooms is awesome. Gym is very nice with all essential equipment. Starbucks is basem*nt level so head there with your pooch for morning coffee and sitting area to the side. All in all, great family weekend in the heart of Vieux Quebec. Included some pics of room service desserts we enjoyed during the snowstorm.
